Our Son BJ!

We have finally had the opportunity to show all our family and church family his picture. So now, we are posting it! We are so excited, we can hardly stand it and we want everyone to see. Isn't he DARLING?! We can't help but wonder how much he'll change by the time we see him again.

B.J. at 15 months

We still have not heard anything about travel dates, but wasn't really planning to until mid to late July, which is still very early compared to how long it's been taking. In the mean time we are getting his room and play room together and today we went to register for a shower. We had so much fun! Registering for a toddler is quite a bit different then registering for an infant! We found so many interactive little "doodads" to add to our list! We had a blast! James found all kinds of things "he" wanted. Including a soccer ball shaped potty chair that "cheers" when flushed! It was adorable and you guessed it, we put it on our registry!

We also found some great Little Einstein DVDs that teach the sounds and also some Elmo DVDs that introduce first words and one for pets. We of course do not intend for the DVDs to teach him how to talk (for Melanie will surely be talking his little ears off!), but we did think it would be a good supplemental tool (the K teacher in her coming out). Do any of you have any ideas that you would recommend to help toddlers pick-up the English sounds/language? I've heard he won't have many problems, but we want to help in any way we can!

That's all for now! Thanks for all your encouraging words! We feel so blessed!

God Bless You!

Oh my goodness! Look at that Smile!! He is the cutest! I think if I were you, I would be staring at these pictures 24/7!!!
This is so exciting for you both.
Regarding polish-english words...try punching into Amazon.com "polish-english children's books" You will find a children's dictionary that has simple words with pictures. Lee and I are thinking about purchasing it to keep the polish language alive in our home. Regarding Polish Fest 2010...Keep it in the back of your mind to meet some day at the fest! I think that would be terrific!

He is beautiful!! That smile is so sweet! I like your video ideas, we got some Baby Einstein ones and a Wiggles one. Klaudia really likes music and they enunciate their words really well and are expressive. They are kind of goofy, but the combo of the language and music could be good.

I have been following your blog through Teresa Baxter. I adopted my daughter with her. I just wanted to say congratulations. He is absolutely adorable. What an angel. I am praying for you and could not be happier for you!

He is just adorable!!

We bought some Polish/English books on amazon as others mentioned. CDs with simple preschool songs (in English) would be perfect. Also, we picked up a TON of Polish to English picture books at book stores in Poland. Similar to the books we bought in Poland (picture dictionaries) but in reverse. There were so many "learning English" books/cds/dvds etc. for kids it was almost overwhelming.

Here's hoping your travel dates come soon!

He is just adorable!!! I can't wait to meet him in person and to see him and Caroline together. They are going to be great friends!

Please add us to the list of shower invitees.

Like others, we bought the Polish/English books and used them in the first few weeks, but our children weren't very interested in them. They were far more interested in all the other toys and in running around. They were opposed to learning English until we arrived in America. Now they're opposed to watching Polish DVD's or reading Polish books.

Kids!

Melanie & James,
You have truly been blessed with a beautiful son. I hope your travel dates come soon. I know how hard it is waiting.

Also, friends of ours are giving us an adoption shower so we to had register. It is difficult when registering for older kids. I don't know if my husband Jeff was registering for Bartek of for himself! :)

PS I love Martha's idea of meeting at Polishfest. We'll have to keep in touch.

So cute and what a smile! I heard things move fast in Warsaw so hopefully the wait won't be too long. (I was asking lots of questions when we met up with our facilitator/translator here in Warsaw.)
